Originally played piano and trumpet as a youngster but both these lapsed in my teens, my interest was reawakened about 15 years ago coinciding with a growing interest in Jazz. Initially I took up the alto sax and quickly progressed (or digressed) to the baritone which is my main instrument now ( someone had to bring gravitas to the band!) I’m famed for getting over- excited at gigs and dropping my horn, at great personal expense – I now have three “baris” - with my record I need all of them.
Along with other members of the band I have a been a long standing student on the Geoff Simkins jazz workshop at Sussex University and have attended the Glamorgan Jazz Summer School. I also play in another 7 piece jazz group.
